For twenty years he has played in groups of Carlo Loffredo, performing both in Italy and abroad and participating in countless television and radio shows. Important were also his collaborations with groups of Romano Mussolini, Lino Patruno, both started in 1984.

In 1982 he founded the band Pavese Roman Dixieland All Stars, which have passed prestigious names in jazz as Italian Gege Munari, Cicci Santucci, Gianni Sanjust, George Rosciglione. From this comes the modern organic Roman Dixieland Few Stars training, whose repertoire consists of songs that represent the history of classic jazz over a period of fifty years, starting from the beginning with the typical funeral in New Orleans spirituals, blues, until arriving in Chicago, the swing, Gershwin and Duke Ellington. During the performance of this band, the musical performances are interspersed with historical notes, trivia, anecdotes about the origins of jazz.

In addition to jazz, Pavese has participated as soloist in successful TV shows of Renzo Arbore (Dear friends near and far, and Those of the night), obtained with the orchestra "The shameless" for the Telegatto television theme songs and a disc d 'gold for the enormous number of records sold.

Ensemble recently established (debuted in July 2010), the Trieste Early Jazz Orchestra brings together the best musicians of the jazz repertoire from Trieste to propose the twenties and thirties, the period of transition from ragtime to extended orchestral forms. The arrangements proposed by the orchestra are original and include compositions by Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, George Gershwin, Vincent Youmans. This repertoire retraces the "roaring twenties", with blues and swing rhythms that intertwine, creating a brilliant mix that brings the atmosphere of the Cotton Club According to normal practice in the jazz of that time, many songs are from Broadway musicals: it is for this reason that the orchestra also uses a singer, Paul Venier, and two young dancers: Samantha Panassid Benedetti and John, who Marisa perform choreography by Benes and Fulvio Settomini. The staff of Trieste Early Jazz Orchestra, with its eleven musicians, is the typical formation of the Twenties: this format is to be instrumental that would soon developed the classic big band jazz. The direction of Trieste Early Jazz Orchestra is headed by Livio Laurenti, a specialist of this kind, the former head (since 2002) of Joplin Ragtime Orchestra, whose repertoire of choice was that of the first decade of the twentieth century. Laurenti was the idea of ??continuing the path started with the JRO now to explore the music of the years between 1924 to 1934 or so, when ragtime was gradually set aside to make way for new forms of jazz musicians.
